This project is still in it’s early development stages. Anything I post here is subject to change at any time.
Objective
Develop a tool for writing and managing software test cases and monitor their results that is integrated directly into the Mantis bug tracking software as an extension to the existing application.
Description
This is one of those projects that I feel only a handful of people will find useful. Never the less, it’s available as an open source project that anyone can take advantage of and extend to their own needs if they wish.
“Crickets” is a test case management and results tracking extension for Mantis BT, the open source bug tracking software and project management software. It initially started off as a project for a private client who wanted to be able to track test cases and their results from within the same interface as their bugs. Starting off as just a simple custom field, then an additional page for logging test cases to now an almost full blown extension to Mantis.
Features
- Adds test case management and result tracking to the existing bug tracking utilizing all of the existing features of Mantis BT such as projects, categories, custom fields and profiles.
- Step-by-step repro steps for executing tests and pin-pointing failure points.
- Failure results are linked to bugs providing better visibility to developers as to the nature of the failures.
Development
This project is still in it’s very early stages of development. Once there is a somewhat stable in-house version the source code will be put up on GitHub. However until then, if you are seriously interested in this project then either send mail to – or join the cricketstcm-dev mailing list or follow @cricketstcm on twitter for updates.
… or, just drop me a note below. Whatever you prefer.
